Alice.com Lends a Helping Hand

Have you heard about Alice? She’s like your girl Friday, only she’s online and she’s not a “she” but a website. Basically, it works like this: you tell Alice what you buy (toothpaste, garbage bags, soap, etc.) and they remind you when you might be running low and help you buy it online. Then, they send it to you with free shipping. AND, they have coupons, so no more clipping coupons (though, who clips coupons anymore? Don’t all stores just have those handy cards that give you all the savings now?)

Oh, they have an iPhone app, too. I don’t have an iPhone (yet – I’m one of the few who don’t it seems) so I haven’t tried their app yet, but the service sounds pretty damn cool to me.

Who couldn’t use a reminder to buy toothpaste? Especially with this mommy brain I’ve got going right now. I’m not remembering anything really. Especially when I’m at the store!

Let’s recap: You need things, Alice helps you remember to buy them, helps you find them for cheap cheap and then sends them to you at no extra cost…

My only question is this: what’s Alice’s business model? Are they going to get me hooked only to go out of business because they can’t make $$? I did read they raised $6 million recently, so they definitely have something going on there.
