Detail Your Stroller
Isn’t it eye opening how dirty you can get on a daily basis? I swear – I look down at my jeans sometimes and think that I’m a walking dust-mop on account of all the food I have smeared into my legs. The other day, when I took my darling girl out of the stroller, I noticed how filthy our stroller was, too! Yech. Talk about ground-in grossness.
I tried to clean it by putting the whole seat into the washing machine – my answer to just about everything. It kinda worked. I mean, most of the dirt came out. But the stitching was starting to pull. When I put the thing in the dryer (I know, I know, I should not have done that), the whole thing fell apart. The stuffing is now popping out from all which ways.
What I should have done was take it to a stroller detailer. I bet you didn’t know there was such a thing.
In San Francisco, a mom started her own business deep cleaning strollers. It’s called Stroller Spa (and was formerly known as Buggy Bubbles). At first, Jamie Mamikunian wanted to trick out strollers for interested moms but she learned that moms were more keen on clean. So she scrubs away all that toddler dirt and uses only use the finest eco-friendly, biodegradable and baby safe products.
What an idea, huh? So simple and yet so necessary. Just think how nice it would be to have a clean stroller after even years of use. Especially with the price of some strollers these days – one might want to keep it around till even the littlest of children can cartwheel down the street. Maybe even save it for the aging doggie?
If you can’t find a stroller cleaning business near you, then maybe you could start one of your own if you like cleaning? Not for me, I must admit. Oh, I love clean things but I’m not the best at the actual cleaning part. I tend to think that everything can be washed with soap, hot water and bleach…not the best for babies.
