Dress Up Casual Outfits With A Pearl Necklace

Now, I don’t know how long this trend will last, but for now I’m really enjoying it…wearing pearls with casual outfits. It kind of reminds me of my college days, but in a good way.

You know how we used to wear a strand of pearls with everything, even work out wear? OK, I may be dating myself too much or, at the very least, pegging myself as a former sorority girl (yes, I’m cringing a bit as I say that), but I confess, I did it. I wore pearls whenever I could.

To be clear, I basically never wear pearls around my neck these days. Instead, I took my cue from J.Crew’s catalog and made my necklaces into big, chunky pearl bracelets. No actual necklace was harmed in the making of this trend, I simply twist my necklaces around my wrist. It helps to have skinny wrists.

But, I do wear them with either fancy bracelets, like rhinestones, or with my army watch. As for outfits, the pearls seem to go with either the elegant, evening look or the relaxed, everyday look of jeans.

For now, it’s fun and lets me breathe new life in to my old jewelry – which, to me, is way preferable to buying new things. Go ahead, pull out your old pearl necklace and breathe new life into it!
