Fellow San Francisco mom, of www.earthlust.com, made these really cool water bottles that are both stylish and safe! Made from food-grade stainless steel with a BPA free cap, these bottles are easy to carry anywhere with their carabineer handles.

They come in lots of sizes – good for mom, dad and little kiddo – and even have optional sports tops, if you like. And the art on the outside is really special – overall a great design. You can get them at most sports outlets, but check their website to see what is available near you.

These bottles are cool, but expensive. I’m not going to pay $18 for a bottle I can but at Target for half of that.

I wonder how similar these are to SIGG bottles, which are also a metal shell, but apparently have an epoxy lining which – up until 2008 – contained BPA. SIGG claims that under the most rigorous of testing, no leaching occurred. However, the new lining is devoid of BPA:

Many people have thought that these products were free from BPA to begin with. To wit, a major Bay Area discount retailer is offering to their customers the opportunity to return their SIGG bottles for the new style, or for a bottle of equal value.

If you are willing to pay for your shipping, SIGG will do the same.

Exactly! The whole SIGG debacle is what got me looking in to stainless steel water bottles to begin with. Apparently the company uses no BPA in any of the plastic: not the top, not the lining, nothing. It’s why I was so interested in the first place, not to mention their design. Sure, they are pricey, but supposedly will last you a long, long time and you can rest assured that they are BPA free!

And thanks for sharing the return information on SIGG bottles! Very good to know.
