Elephants in Prints and Books

Elephants in Prints and Books

I just love to hate Etsy. I am forever getting lost among the myriad offerings and forget why I’ve gone there in the first place. I just found these adorable elephant prints and cards. Don’t they just make you smile? But, I didn’t go there to find them, in fact, I now have no idea why I went there in the first place.

No matter, these drawings remind me of author Mo Willems and his fun loving creations, Gerald the somewhat pessimistic elephant and his friend Piggy, who has an “out of the box” and impulsive view of the world. They are very good at getting into and then out of situations. Like in this book that we just got for my oldest’s birthday:

Piggie and Gerald are playing ball together and a snake comes up to play. I won’t spoil the book because the first time I read it (and even now millions of times later) I cracked up! Now Mo Willems knows how to write children’s books! As sweet as they are to look at, the books always contain a little laugh out loud something for the grown up who is reading it. Over and over. And over.

Maybe it’s not Etsy, maybe it’s my Mommy brain at work (or rather, NOT at work). I’m easily distracted today. Or could it be that I’m easily distractible?

Must have caffeine.

That artist makes some lovely illustrations! Etsy is so fun for surfing to discover all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff made by some unique and talented artists and crafty types.

I love books that provide the reading parent with a fun moment too. That’s what i like about Dr Suesse. He is fun to look at for everyone.

I think its kind of authors to give the reading parent a laugh too, when he puts his kid up for the night at the end of a very long day. That’s what i like about Dr Suess. He is fun for everyone. I think I should try your book too.
