GPS for Pets? Yeah, They Have That!
True Story: Six years ago, during a Boston Red Sox game, my husband left with our dog to run to the corner store. The funny part? Not that only one of them came back, but that we didn’t realize the dog was missing until the next morning. My hubs went back to the store to look for the dog (which he had tied up to a post outside the door and completely forgotten about her) only to find a chewed off leash.
A doggie GPS would have been awfully handy right about then…that and a giant stick to beat my husband with…but that’s neither here nor there.
Tagg—The Pet Tracker attaches to your pet’s existing collar and notifies you via text and/or email if your pet wanders outside a “safe zone” which is predetermined by you. Then, use the Tagg Map on your smart phone to hone in on where your pet is at all times.
The tracker itself is just under $100 and service runs about $8 per month. It’s a pricey investment, especially for families on a tight budget. But is it worth it to know where your pets are, particularly if they run off (like our husky)?
I would say that it is.
Luckily, we had a happy ending to our story. Our dog had run into the store to find my husband…devoted companion that she is. A neighbor ended up coaxing her home and we got her back shortly after we called Animal Control.
