Make Hard Cover, Display Worthy Books
We love books in our house and have plenty of beautiful hard cover books standing side by side on our bookshelves. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my daughter also loves books, but hers don’t hold up so well. Especially the paper back books.
I found this easy way to recover old books by yourself. Basically, you take the old paperback, make a hard cover for it complete with a custom label for the title and you have display worthy books in no time.
The full instructions are at Ohdeedoh. There they show you how to cut, assemble and glue a new cover onto the old book. And, you can download customizable labels so you can make the front of the book look however you want it to look. Very vintage.
I bet this takes some time – I haven’t tried it yet but plan to as soon as my girl goes back to school during the week. You know, the time that all us moms wait for when summer winds down so we can actually get stuff done again!
What about you – do you have any old books lying around that you just can’t bear to throw out but don’t particularly like the look of? I think this is a great way to make keepsakes without spending too much money.
