Phil and Teds Stroller Recall Reminder
Posted on 07. Oct, 2009 by Kate in Baby Stuff

Since I’m in the market for a new stroller, I thought I’d share some information on Phil and Teds strollers that have been recalled. This recall is about a year old, but in my experience it’s easy to miss information on recalls.
While these are more than likely not being sold any more through the typical retailers, for those frugal minded of you out there looking on Craigslist or other sites where used baby stuff is sold, it never hurts to have the information.
Regal Lager, the maker of Phil and Teds strollers has recalled their strollers twice. Here are the models that are impacted:
1. Phil & Teds Dash Buggy Strollers: the frame hand can fail to latch which can be a fall hazard to small children. This recall involves Phil & Teds Dash Buggy strollers with article #7-1080005 (red) and article #7-10080005 (black). These strollers have a metal frame with three wheels, a cloth seat, and a canopy. Look for the Phil & Teds logo on the crotch piece of the harness. The article number can be found on the safety strap hanging from the handle.
These strollers were sold through various independent juvenile specialty stores and online from July 2008 through September 2008 for between $500 and $600.

2. Phil and Teds e3 Single Buggy, e3 Twin Buggy and sport v1 Single Buggy Strollers. About 44,000 Phil & Teds e3 Single Buggy, e3 Twin Buggy and sport v1 Single Buggy Strollers that were sold at baby furniture and baby products stores nationwide from August 2003 through August 2008 were recalled after discovering that the stroller’s hinge locking mechanism posed a laceration hazard to the user folding and unfolding the strollers.
The recalled single strollers all have metal frames with three wheels, a cloth seat and canopy. The twin strollers have a metal frame with four wheels, side-by-side cloth seats and double sun canopies. The strollers were sold in a variety of colors including red, orange, green, black, charcoal and navy. The Phil & Teds logo is located on the crotch piece of the harness.
These strollers were sold at baby furniture and baby products stores nationwide from August 2003 through August 2008 for between $400 and $650.
For more information, consumers can Regal Lager toll-free at (877) 242-5676 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s Web site at www.regallager.com.
And remember: look out when buying used baby strollers. A little research can really pay off.
