I was married young. Well, not young-young. But 22 young. I was in loooooove. For sure. I knew exactly what I wanted. Then we had a baby. The same baby that I suffered severe postpartum depression with.
Several years later, I was divorced with a three-year-old.
I’m close with my dad, so he knew everything that was going on. For him and my step-mom, the big announcement came as no surprise. My mother, who has trouble being alone, questioned what on Earth I would do for financial support…never mind that I was actually the breadwinner in the relationship. My grandparents were horrified; more specifically, my grandmother.
This was surprising to me because my father is on his third marriage. If they could accept that, why not me leaving my husband? Turns out there was some family strife I never knew about.
As I talked to more and more single moms, I found out that the worst was yet to come. While family members might be upset over the announcement of divorce, I needed to be prepared for the wrath of dating again. I thought they were crazy. Twilight’s Kellan Lutz has some good advice for you vixens out there who want to impress a guy on a date. What he recommends for date attire will, in fact, raise eyebrows.
When asked by a writer from Glamour Magazine what he thought would “wow” him, his answer was hilarious!
Socks, he said. Just plain old socks. Well, maybe not plain old socks…
“Like, cute animal printed socks or something like that,” he said. “Because nobody knows she’s wearing them except her, and then she takes off her thigh-high boots and has those bunny socks under there and it’s just like oh man. It makes the mood lighter, it just gets you guys laughing. And then..”
I can’t say I know him from Adam, but I love his attitude…just goes to show you, sexy is all in the attitude.
