Replace Damaged Silver or China

I recently wrote about how to fix chipped crystal or china. But sometimes your precious items just can’t be repaired and you need to find a replacement. Not for an entire set, mind you – just one individual piece.

well, I may be slow to the mark on this one, but I just heard about two marvelous places – Replacements, Ltd and Echo, where you can find replacement silver or china pieces for your pattern. Of course, this would probably have been helpful to know BEFORE the holidays, but it’s never to early to start planning for the next big occasion to pull out your holiday best.

Replacements, Ltd. is a North Carolina-based operation that is massive in scope. They have millions (literally) of patterns for you to either find or even make the pieces of china you need to complete your set. If something special got broken this Christmas, I’ll bet you dollars to donuts you’ll find what you need here.

Replacements, Ltd. has a retail space, but their online inventory is truly a sight to behold. You have to know where to begin or else you’ll get hopelessly lost paging through names of patterns. They do, however, have a picture gallery to make things easier.

Just know this – there are millions of pattern names to look through. And, as a bonus, they have a silversmith that can help straighten the tines of a fork that got caught in the garbage disposal or smooth out the bowl of a spoon.

At Echo’s Discontinued China you’ll find all sorts of patterns as well. They specialize in discontinued merchandise, so if you know that you can’t run out and buy what you need at the store, then visit their website. I found that Echo’s has a bit smaller of an inventory (just by clicking around, some patterns don’t have items to be bought), yet that’s like saying a lion is slightly smaller than a tiger – they are still really big f-ing cats!

The thing is – plan for a relatively long turn around time. Since it’s just delicate work, fixing or replacing items takes some time…
