Toddler Backpack: Dante Beatrix Rory The Lion Child’s Backpack

It’s about time my two year old started carrying her own weight around here…and I found just the thing for her to do it with, too.

This little piggy went to market and carried her own bag…(Anastasia the pig, that is)

I’ve been looking for a little backpack for our daughter – one that is cute but not cutesy. Dante Beatrix Little Kid Backpacks are just the thing – a simple canvas backpack with an adorable little animal. Functional. Cute. Perfect.

The folks from Dante Beatrix were nice enough to send over a Lion (Rory – clever name, huh?) backpack to test out. My daughter immediately – and I mean immediately – fell in love with it. She shoved her lovey and a rock inside, asked for help putting it on, then said she was off to the store to buy food.

The creatures are by Maakun Forest and the little packs hold everything a tot needs for a busy day. They are constructed from durable nylon and laminated canvas to make them extra easy to clean. The roomy interior space contains a smaller zipped pocket for those little treasures toddlers like to tote around. It also has a padded back panel with name tag and padded shoulder straps.

The canvas is really light weight yet surprisingly durable. I can imagine it stands up to quite a workout. The zipper is big enough for little hands to grasp, and, while it will be some time yet before my daughter can master the whole zipper thing, she loves tugging at it and even manages to open the bag on occasion. The interior is very roomy without being too big to overwhelm the little body that carries it.

The nicest touch, though, is the name tag that comes with the bag. Like I mentioned, we have Rory and his tag tells us all about his favorite activity: napping. Napping! As soon as I saw that I read it to Sophie and we had a good talk about how fun it can be to nap. Nice touch.

Dante Beatrix also makes super cute big kid backpacks, t-shirts, lunch boxes and more. Check them out here.
