Toilet Training For Boys (Well, Really Men)

Is it my imagination, or do all men miss the toilet? How does this happen – I mean, aren’t they standing right above a very large “target” so to speak? And when does it happen? At the beginning, they sit down like girls, right?

I’m asking because a) I’m a girl and b) I’m researching potty training for our little girl, so I’m obsessed with everything potty right now. Not exactly a position I thought I’d find myself in at this stage of my life, but there you have it. I spend a lot of energy on potties (ha).

So, that brings me to my question – why is it OK for men to miss when boys are taught to aim and then, presumably, to wipe up what spills? My husband, bless his heart (as my true inner Southerner would say) tries.

Yes, there is a bath mat down that catches everything and do you know how many times I wash that thing. Picture this, our little girl on hands and knees trying to figure out how the big girl potty works and there that icky bath mat is, daring her to rub her tiny hands all over it. I’m no germaphobe but I can’t stand it so I wash and wash and wash.

I mean COME ON, give a girl a break.

Of course, this could just be the hormones talking…or the lack of sleep…
