Twitter During Labor

My due date is fast approaching and yes, I’ve been getting a few phone calls from loved ones asking how I’m doing. It’s nice to hear from my friends and family – makes me feel less distant (as in miles from home). But I hear there is a trend – using Twitter to keep family, friends and strangers informed about my progress!

Hey, it’s good enough for the Mayor of San Francisco (his wife recently had a baby daughter, Montana, in September) – a self avowed Twitter nut – who kept his followers informed all the way up until his wife put the kaibosh on it.

I don’t mind giving a play by play of how I’m doing, how the baby is, how I’m feeling, yada yada yada…the attention is actually nice and I know all that attention will be focused on the baby once she arrives, so I’ll bask in it for now. But tweeting each contraction? COME ON.

First of all, I don’t even have a twitter account (yet!) – call me a technological dinosaur. Second, do I want to share all those details? No! Well, maybe after the birth is over and I’ve had a glass of wine and I’m eager to reminisce…but during? Give me a break! I’ll have enough on my plate.
