A friend recently asked me if I was happy with my Williams Sonoma All Clad pots and I found myself thinking of how much I love my pots and pans. So, I thought I’d share my thoughts with you.

I love to cook. Always have. Now, that doesn’t mean I’ve always been a good cook, but I definitely have worked at it and now can hold my own in the kitchen. One of the first things I learned is that cooking is way easier when you have the right tools.

To be honest, this has taken me a while to fully learn and every now and then I’m reminded of it when I try to use a coffee cup to measure 8 ounces or the side of a knife to pound chicken cutlets. (Don’t try that, by the way, it never ends well.)

As for my pots…you could say I have the bare minimum of pots to cook as much as I do. I have the 10 piece set – though it’s really only 5 pots. They count lids as pieces, which is ridiculous. As if you could use a lid without the pot to go underneath it!

I gotta say, they cook food great. Very even, so no “hot spots.” The handles actually do stay reasonably cool to the touch, but warm up the longer the pot is on the fire. With the lids I still use oven mitts.

I tend to cook with high heat, so I run the risk of burning my food, but with these pots I rarely do. I don’t know if that is because I’m more used to my gas stove now or the pots themselves, but I do wind up with fewer caked on burned food at the bottom of the pans.

As for clean up, I’ve rarely had a mess I couldn’t handle. One time I did have some staining on the bottom of my pot (on the inside, not the outside) that I had a tough time cleaning, but it did come out. I just had to boil dishwashing detergent in the pot and it came up like a breeze.

The outside finish may give you pause. Anything that shiny is bound to look bad after a while. Mine don’t. I can’t say they look good as new because they don;t. However, they still look damn good and they make me smile when I have them on the stove. It may be shallow of me, but the aesthetics of the pots really make me happy. There is something “grown up” about having matching pots that shine.

Oh yeah, I think these are only found at Williams-Sonoma, but I’m not certain. That’s where I got mine at least.
