Wooden Puzzles to Fascinate Your Toddler

At a play date the other day, my daughter stumbled into puzzle heaven. Our friends have a gazillion Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles that captured my daughter’s attention for a very, very long time. That’s saying a lot for a 22 month old!

Melissa and Doug makes wooden puzzles in all shapes and sizes with animals, letters, even puzzles that have lights and sound and textured fabrics! I prefer the more simple, classic wooden animals but my daughter didn’t discriminate – she loved them all. Her favorite seemed to be the zoo animal one, though the dinosaurs definitely is a close second.

We actually do have our own Melissa and Doug fuzzy farm animal puzzle that we got when Sophie was born and that has aged remarkably well. She usually plays with it in the morning before I head in to her room to get her (she sleeps on a floor bed, so she is able to wake up and amuse herself for some time before breakfast).

Personally, I respect Melissa and Doug’s commitment to safety and feel confident that they make good, quality toys. It’s even better that something that I give my stamp of approval to also captures my daughter’s imagination.
